We have been selling atv’s for 20 years and in that time we have only sold 2 50cc atv’s. The reason is that the child quickly learns how to ride the atv and can’t even climb out of a gutter on the sidewalk. The 90 cc and the 110 cc sell more to young riders. All of our 90cc up to 300cc atv’s have a safety throttle governor. This device is all well and good if the child doesn’t listen. The important thing to understand is its all about training. The more time you spend training your child the more pleasure they will have with the ATV and the happier you will be with your purchase.
By training we mean the following:
1. Practice stopping and starting and make games out of it, like stopping on a line with the rear wheels touching and stopping on the line with the front wheels touching. spread out the lines until they have a football field of distance between lines.
2. Making a circular track. This will make your child slow down automatically around corners instead of you telling them to slow down.
Remember if you tell them they will not listen. If you make a game out of it they will learn control on their own terms.
