Frequently Asked Questions

Are these vehicles legal in my state?

The majority of the vehicles sold on this site are street legal in all continuous 48 states. However, please check with your local DMV for specific state requirements. California residents require C.A.R.B. approval to be legal in the state of California.

Can I cancel my order?

Once an order is placed to Thriftyscooters.com, your order immediately enters our order processing system. We will gladly refund your purchase amount less the 3.5% processing fee which we incured to process your credit card.

Can I return or trade-in my scooter?

All sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or trade-ins.

Do you offer any warranty?

Yes! We offer a 3-month limited warranty applicable to factory defective parts only. Warranty excludes damage caused during shipping, misuse, abuse, or failure to properly maintain the vehicle. Please refer to our "Warranty & Returns" section. On certain vehicles, we offer extended warranty during the sale up to 36 months.

How do I start my Moped Scooter?

Step 1: Place scooter on parking stand (stand is located towards the rear of scooter next to kick starter).

Step 2: Put key into ignition and turn it to the (on) position. Note: Make sure kill switch is in the (on) position.

Step 3: Put unleaded gas into scooter (premium gas recommended). Note: Make sure you have the fuel line connected to the carburetor. It is located on the left side of the bike underneath the seat. There is a compartment that exposes the carburetor and what you are looking for will be either a brass nub 3/4 of an inch long or a hollow nub. You may not see it, however, you should be able to feel it if you are standing on the left side of the bike.

Step 4: Kick start scooter 6-7 times to build compression. Note: Do not pull on throttle or it will flood the carburetor.

Step 5: Now use the electric start (hold in rear left brake lever and press button on right that looks like lightening bolt). Hold for 3-4 seconds. Note: Do not hold it in any longer than 5 seconds at a time or you will burn the starter.

Step 6: Repeat sequence 6-7 times.

Step 7: Once started, adjust idle speed if needed. Note: To adjust idle lift up seat and in engine compartment on the top towards the farthest side of the carburetor, is a Gold Phillip screw attached onto a spring. Turn clockwise until it is set to your preference.

How much assembly is required?

Fortunately, one does not need to be mechanically-inclined to assemble the vehicles. Most vehicles are 85% - 95% assembled. The typical requirements are installations of the front wheel, side mirrors, battery, and trunk.

If I placed an order on a scooter, atv, or dirt bike today, how long will it take for it to arrive?

It all depends on your location. It can range from 3-5 business days if you're in the West Coast or Midwest to 5-10 business days if you're in the East Coast. Remember, we do not ship to P.O. boxes. It usually takes 2 days to process your credit card. We will ship the same day that the funds have cleared.

Is www.thriftyscooters.com website secure?

All online transactions are sent through our secure server and encrypted with 128-bit technology.

Isn’t a 110 cc ATV too big for my child?

We have been selling atv's for 20 years and in that time we have only sold 2 50cc atv's. The reason is that the child quickly learns how to ride the atv and can't even climb out of a gutter on the sidewalk. The 90 cc and the 110 cc sell more to young riders. All of our 90cc up to 300cc atv’s have a safety throttle governor. This device is all well and good if the child doesn't listen. The important thing to understand is its all about training. The more time you spend training your child the more pleasure they will have with the ATV and the happier you will be with your purchase.

By training we mean the following:
1. Practice stopping and starting and make games out of it, like stopping on a line with the rear wheels touching and stopping on the line with the front wheels touching. spread out the lines until they have a football field of distance between lines.

2. Making a circular track. This will make your child slow down automatically around corners instead of you telling them to slow down.

Remember if you tell them they will not listen. If you make a game out of it they will learn control on their own terms.

What do I do if my purchase arrives damaged?

Thriftyscooters.com is not responsible for shipping damages incurred during delivery. We inspect the crates before they are shipped out. We advise our customers to inspect their item for damages when it arrives. If the item is damaged during shipping, it is your responsibility to have the freight driver acknowledge the damage and notate the damage on the delivery receipt. You must then file a claim with the freight company. We will assist and cooperate with you during the claim process, but it is your responsibility to file the claim, submit the requirements for the claim, and follow the claim through to its resolution.
